im lovin this issue.

i got a wii. my tendons are aching. haha.

i cant wait to get back to austin and finish up on my hip hop projects and go for a long bike ride. for all my friends who are out of town, i miss you guys and cant wait to see you soon. i want to go visit claudia and take a day trip to mexico. my current ambition though...

to visit my friends gabriel and vivis in sao paulo! we party in austin. were gonna party in brazil!

its what my mother raised me on but never completely appreciated until now. a music of love and emotion. a music where feeling and language were just as important as the other. soul.

this song was written in 1957 by ewan mac call for his wife peggy seeger who needed a romantic song to sing in a play she was in. roberta flack covered it for her album "first take," but the song wasnt popular until it was featured in a popular movie three years later (much like the popular m.i.a. song "paper planes" haha) its been covered a bajillion times by so many different artists (i recommend checking out johnny cash's version as well) but i think ms. roberta did it best myself.

ive been studying all morning and last night. i think im ready.

popafricana is a new magazine. these are excerpts from their premier issue. the full issue is online at popafricana.com. its loaded with visually stimulating images and articles on fashion, art, people, and global awareness, among other original sections in the magazine. the creator keeps a blog of her own and is working on video.

in an unexpected visit from my mother and grandmother and coming down the mountain from a perfect weekend spent in austin, my monday finished nicely with still a few graces to spare.

i had lunch with my mom and grandma at a burger joint down the road. we laughed, cried, filled each other in about things going on in our lives. i drank coffee. my grandma talked about grandpa. it was nice. i miss my mom. i miss all my family.

in my family we all kiss each other on the cheek when we greet each other, when we say goodbye, or just to say i love you. i can actually describe to you what each of my family members face feels like against my own face. and claudias too. i have it memorized.

my brother called me in denver a little while ago. hes waiting for his plane to san antonio. he told me about his convention in seattle. its always been a dream of ours to go to seattle. to be somewhere enveloped in trees older than both of my grandparents ages combined just seems...beautiful.

baby, we should have watched notorious. but still, best weekend ever. from the pastries in the park to our dirty dancing at diplo. BEST TIME EVER!

these guys put on an awesome show. i shared some queso fries with the bassist at lulu's while everyone tried to convince the band to buy a giant cinnamon roll.
